Wow! Who knew it would be so hard to keep a blog current and up to date. My goal of getting to this blog at least once a month has not materialized. I will work on that:)
It is now January and our class has begun a fatastic unit on South America. We are very excited about all of our new learning! We are also learning about our Habit of Mind for the month of January which is "Precison" or "Striving for Accuracy" having a good work ethic and always trying our best is a theme that will carry on all through our academic lives. I am glad students are getting an early start on recognizing the importance of doing quality work.

Welcome New Second Graders!

This is the first blog post of the 2009-2010 school year and I am very excited about getting started. Our class has been very busy learning all the routines for Second Grade. We are well into Writer's Workshop and our Everyday Math Program. This week we will be starting "Tiger Tales" which is our "Walk to Read" program. Students will be going to one of the three Second Grade teachers for focus reading instruction that is geared for their skills and needs. We are all looking forward to our first full week of school next week!
